Portability
Housing Choice Vouchers are portable, meaning they can be transferred from one jurisdiction to another after the initial lease term.

Port-Ins
If you are a current voucher holder and you would like to port in to the CVR New York Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program, you must provide your current public housing authority (PHA) with our contact information. They will send the required information to our office. After we receive the information from your current PHA, we will schedule your family for a briefing that must be attended by all household members aged 18 and older.
Please provide your current PHA with our contact information as follows:
CVR New York, HCVP
Portability Department
112 E. Post Rd. Ste. 102
White Plains, NY 10601
Phone: 914-995-2415
Fax: 914-995-5839
Port-Outs
If you are a current participant of the CVR New York HCV Program and you would like to port out to another jurisdiction, you must first contact your housing specialist and provide the contact information of the PHA you intend to port to. You are required to complete the Notice to Vacate process, and if you are in good standing with the program and have no lease violations, we will then forward the appropriate information to the PHA you are porting to.
