Having unauthorized members of the household residing in an assisted unit

Collecting side payments from voucher holders

Moving voucher holders into a unit other than the one inspected
Reporting Income Accurately
Not only is it your obligation to accurately report all sources and amounts of your income, it is unlawful if you don't. Falsely reported or misrepresented income will jeopardize your voucher and may ultimately result in the loss of your housing subsidy.
The Importance of Providing Accurate Income Information brochure provides information about the use of the Electronic Income Verification (EIV) System. This system cross references your reported income and actual income.
It is important to know that all CVR New York employees are required to report violations of the law as it relates to the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. All persons participating (either as a voucher holder or property owner) in the HCV Program are obligated to report fraudulent activity.
The process to report suspected fraud and the information that should be included in any such report are outlined below.

Who was involved?
Names, addresses, and phone numbers (if available)
Where did it happen?
Location, street address, apartment/unit number, city, state, etc.
What happened?
A summary of events and any additional sources of evidence
Why was it done?
Any known motive to commit the alleged fraud
When did this happen?
Date, time, and frequency of occurrence(s)
How did it happen?
Describe any scheme used to commit the alleged fraud (if applicable)
Debts Owed to Public Housing Authorities
Please be advised that in the event you are terminated from any HCV Program, any remaining debt to the PHA (CVR New York) and/or the property owner will be recorded in a federal database. This debt will cause you to be denied any future assistance in a HCV Program or Public Housing.
